Needed - Diapers, formula, and volunteers for deliveries to Seattle World School families
posted about 1 year ago by HomerHarrisHub from Homer Harris Hub COVID-19 Support
The Homer-Harris-Park COVID-19 support team has been working with Kandelia who provide direct support to the Seattle World School, one of only a few public schools in the country designed for newly arrived refugee and immigrant youth. As English language learners, these youth face significant language and cultural barriers to navigating their new environment.
Since COVID-19 hit Seattle, Kandelia has been providing weekly home deliveries of fresh produce and other supplies to World School families. Many World School parents have lost their jobs and are unable to pay for groceries or rent.
The deliveries happen on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with pickup at the World School. Each volunteer delivers to 5-7 families in either north or south Seattle. The deliveries take approximately 2 hours. Please sign up here to volunteer for a specific day: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf8p65Ho09kzsSilcS4lYbEV94D0bCMxrRJHFiCpqhAigKWsA/viewform
Diaper donations (all sizes, especially size 1-7) and/or formula donations (requests so far have been for Similac Advance) can be dropped off at the front of Seattle World School, 1700 E Union St., Monday-Friday from 11 am - 1 pm. Please give your donation to the people handing out lunches and say or label it "For Kandelia.” You can also donate online at https://www.kandelia.org/donate/
