Why We Volunteer
posted 11 months ago by HomerHarrisHub from Homer Harris Hub COVID-19 Support
Many thanks to neighbors Mithra and Ram who recently let us know why they volunteer.
"Since the virus outbreak began, we have been lucky to be healthy and gainfully employed. However, we are very aware that is not true for many others and so we wanted to give back in some form. When the opportunity to help arose via the Homer Harris Hub COVID-19 Support group, we gladly signed up.
We are currently delivering lunches from Meany Middle school to two families in the Central district every weekday. It is a wonderfully smooth operation run by the school. The meal pick up is streamlined and delivery is straightforward; the whole process takes no more than 30 minutes. When possible, we and other volunteers, try to supplement the meals with some basic groceries. The recipient households are welcoming and grateful and that makes this simple task very rewarding."
