Help the YMCA Reach Out to Seniors by Phone!

We have received a request from Seattle YMCA for help with their Senior Wellness telephone calls to seniors in our community. Most of the calls are fun! People are glad to hear from the Y. If volunteers have a phone call with a senior who needs support, a YMCA staff member will circle back to the senior and provide resource information.

Details below. Note that the next bi-weekly training session is Tuesday, May 5, at 3 pm by Skype.

  • There is no specific time commitment. Some volunteers do 10 calls each day and some do 10 each week

  • The first step to signing up to volunteer is logging on to the Y's volunteer database and doing a background screen and signing waivers. Here is the link for that: https://seattleymca.volunteermatters.org/project-catalog/616

  • The next step is a volunteer training through a skype phone call – 45 min in length. These are offered Tuesdays at 3 pm or Wednesdays at 11 am

  • After training is complete the Y’s Deborah Montelaro will work with the volunteers to find out how many names they’d like each week and how they can get the information from the calls back to her.
