Homer Harris Hub COVID-19 Support News: We Are Launched!
posted 2 months ago by HomerHarrisHub from Homer Harris Hub COVID-19 Support
Homer Harris Hub COVID-19 Support jumped into action last week. Volunteers picked up school lunches from Seattle's Meany Middle School and delivered them to families unable to get to Meany. We are planning to expand this program because we know there are other families in need of this kind of help. We learned that meals from schools are critical for food security and keeping food on the table for many families. Stay tuned.
To our many generous and compassionate neighbors who signed up: THANK YOU! Here's the kind of help that has been offered:
- grocery pickup and delivery
- meals from a neighbor who is a caterer
- help with taxes using Turbotax
- making and donating cloth masks
- help with yard work and woodworking projects
- dog walking
- help with art projects
- computer/Internet tech support
- running errands.
We have many more volunteers than requests for help thus far, so we are now focusing our efforts on finding neighbors who might need help. Please contact us (HomerHarrisHub@gmail.com) if you know anyone who needs help or if you are aware of/have connections to neighborhood organizations who can connect us with people we can support.
Thanks for your patience. We are building the boat as we sail it!
The effects of COVID on our neighbors and communities will be with us for some time. We look forward to working with you to strengthen our community.
